LAW - 845F Reimagining Criminal Justice 2 unit(s) This course is an opportunity to explore, discuss, and write about recent proposals to reimagine criminal justice in the United States. Students will consider the implications of these proposals and their potential for creating a more just system of criminal law and procedure by eliminating the significant discriminatory impact the system has had on underrepresented minorities and impoverished communities. This class satisfies the upper division writing requirement as a scholarly writing course in which students write about a topic of their choice involving the criminal system in the United States. Students should expect to spend approximately 50 hours (an average of 6 hours per module) devoted to research and writing.
