LAW - 897A Civil Litigation - PreTrial Phase


2 unit(s)
Students handle every aspect of pretrial preparation of a civil lawsuit. They proceed from the initial client contact, through formulating case strategy. They draft the case pleadings as well as motions challenging the sufficiency of the pleadings. The course ends with a mediation. The students observe and report on actual motions and meet (virtually) expert civil litigators. This course counts toward completion of the Experiential Learning Requirement. Prerequisite(s) or Corequisite(s): The student must have completed or be enrolled in introductory courses in Civil Procedure, Evidence, and Torts.
