Project Management, Global MS (Online in Chinese)

Program Information


Golden Gate University designed an accelerated graduate program that is dedicated to working professionals residing in China. Using a 7.5-week term format, this program is offered online in Chinese (Mandarin) through our partner, Beacon Education. Note: This program is available only to students who enroll via the Beacon Education platform.

Aligned to GGU’s leadership and service mission, the Global Master of Science in Project Management (GMSPM) is an action-based, language accessible, fast-paced 30-unit accelerated program focused on providing strategic and tactical project management leadership and service skills necessary to navigate the rapidly evolving global business ecosystem and its issues. Offered in an accelerated delivery students take key courses that focus on global issues impacting organizations, markets, leadership, and service. Building on existing GGU project management, business, leadership, business analytics, and marketing courses, the GMSPM program is designed for the global marketplace. To be inclusive and accessible to the cross-cultural and inter-cultural marketplace, the curriculum is delivered in online and language accessible format.

The Global Master of Science in Project Management prepares students for careers in the growing discipline of project management. The curriculum includes courses specific to the project management profession, along with courses providing additional essential skills and knowledge to be a successful project leader. Students will graduate with project management skills emphasizing an integrated relationship with an organization’s functional areas.

Our degree and certificate programs in project management provide formal training that prepares graduates to manage local, outsourced and global projects. Students’ improved communication skills will enable them to succeed in multiple diverse communities within an organization. Faculty with extensive practical experience and who have earned the PMP® designation teach all of our courses.

Course materials align with the current edition of A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide), Project Management Institute, Inc. Students seeking PMI® certification, such as PMP® or CAPM®, are able to satisfy education requirements with just one 3-unit project management course, while current credential holders can earn PDUs (Professional Development Units).

Student Learning Outcomes

Graduates of this program will have the knowledge and skills to:

  • Managerial and leadership skills, e.g., leadership, planning, problem solving, communication, staffing and budgeting.
  • The ability to use technology to manage relationships across projects and with business function units, as well as analyze data.
  • Project-management skills, including planning, scope management, stakeholder analysis, quality assessment, risk management, team building and scheduling.
  • Program and portfolio management skills, including understanding issues in project selection, vendor relationships, outsourcing, finance, purchasing and contract negotiations, as well as regulatory and compliance issues.
  • The ability to integrate and apply the above understanding and knowledge into the development of a major applied capstone or internship project.

Admission Requirements

  • Unofficial transcripts from all previously attended institutions (official transcripts will be required after admission).
  • Applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree or a master’s degree.
    • Successful completion of 3‐year undergraduate study degree (大专文凭) will be accepted, but applicants are required to provide a resume demonstrating at least three years of work experience.
  • 2.5 GPA for full admission.
  • If below 2.5 GPA, applicants will be required to provide:
    • Resume
    • Statement of purpose that will be reviewed by Beacon team, or an interview conducted by Beacon admissions representative to determine the eligibility of the students.
      • The statement of purpose or interview must include the following:
      1. Their professional journey after school (minimum 3 years of work experience).
      2. How this degree would help them in their professional career.
      • The statement of purpose or interview report will be reviewed for approval by GGU Faculty Director/Dean.

Requirements for the Global Master of Science in Project Management


The degree program requires completion of a total of 30 units. Students must earn a grade of “C-” or better in each course and cumulative grade-point average of 3.00 or better.
