Finance, Global MS (Online in Chinese)

Program Information


Golden Gate University designed an accelerated graduate program that is dedicated to working professionals residing in China. Using a 7.5-week term format, this program is offered online in Chinese (Mandarin) through our partner, Beacon Education. Note: This program is available only to students who enroll via the Beacon Education platform.

Aligned to GGU’s leadership and service mission, the Global Master of Science in Finance (GMSF) is an action-based, language accessible, 30-unit accelerated program focused on providing tactical and strategic leadership and service skills necessary to navigate the rapidly evolving global financial ecosystem and marketplace. Offered in an accelerated delivery compared to Golden Gate University’s established MS Finance program, GMSF students take key courses that focus on global issues impacting organizational leadership, finance, and service. To be inclusive and accessible to the cross-cultural and inter-cultural marketplace, the GMSF curriculum is delivered in online and language accessible format.

Launch or extend your career in finance. The Global MS in Finance at Golden Gate University (GGU) Worldwide provides real-world and in-depth exposure to the principles and practices necessary for a career in investment management or corporate finance. The program focuses on specific, compelling areas necessary for success in careers in financial management, investment management, security analysis, corporate banking and portfolio management, among others.

Student Learning Outcomes

Graduates of this program will have the knowledge and skills to:

  • Evaluate and explain financial decisions regarding the firm’s investment and long- and short-term financing strategies by applying financial theory, quantitative decision-making tools, and analytical methods.
  • Apply economic analysis to the firm’s decision-making, taking into account the impact of markets, institutions, and international trends on these decisions.
  • Understand whether or to what extent a financial market satisfies the conditions of an efficient market.
  • Define and measure business and financial risk. Describe the relationship between risk and return, and distinguish between expected and required returns.
  • Explain how risk affects the valuation of real and financial assets, and describe techniques for managing risk.
  • Evaluate the corporate governance structures of firms and examine the interactions, from a governance perspective, among firm management, financial markets, and stakeholders.
  • Describe and evaluate the ethical implications of financial decision-making and financial practices, assess alternative recommendations for solutions to ethical financial problems, and offer appropriate resolutions to those problems.

Admission Requirements

  • Unofficial transcripts from all previously attended institutions (official transcripts will be required after admission).
  • Applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree or a master’s degree.
    • Successful completion of 3‐year undergraduate study degree (大专文凭) will be accepted, but applicants are required to provide a resume demonstrating at least three years of work experience.
  • 2.5 GPA for full admission.
  • If below 2.5 GPA, applicants will be required to provide:
    • Resume
    • Statement of purpose that will be reviewed by Beacon team, or an interview conducted by Beacon admissions representative to determine the eligibility of the students.
      • The statement of purpose or interview must include the following:
      1. Their professional journey after school (minimum 3 years of work experience).
      2. How this degree would help them in their professional career.
      • The statement of purpose or interview report will be reviewed for approval by GGU Faculty Director/Dean.

Requirements for the Global Master of Science in Finance


The degree program requires completion of a total of 30 units. Students must earn a grade of “C-” or better in each course and cumulative grade-point average of 3.00 or better.
