Otto and Velia Butz University Library
The Otto and Velia Butz University Library at Golden Gate University includes resources, services, and facilities supporting the university’s two major fields of study - Business and Law. Resources and research assistance are tailored to the disciplines served. Resources are available predominantly online to better serve researchers when and where they choose to study. Some print resources remain part of library collections. Current Business students, Law students, and Business & Law Alumni are welcome to use the Library and its Learning Commons area for study during regular business hours.
Resources and Services
The library provides an array of services and resources to help students develop information literacy skills and technological competence leading to academic success and the ability to perform effective research well after graduation.
Library collections cover all disciplines taught at the university and include professional practitioner materials and databases graduates would expect to use in career settings. Resources encompass more than 100 research databases, 325,000 e-books, 68,000 e-Journal titles, 78,000 print items, and course reserves available to currently enrolled students.
The library’s Law collection includes special sections on tax law, law and literature, and international law. Specialized databases such as Lexis, Hein-Online, CEB Onlaw, VitalLaw, and CALI (an interactive educational tool) are also available for legal research.
Librarians provide group research instruction in online classes and are available for individual research assistance via email, video, phone, and instant messenger.

Access Policies
Access to the library is limited to the following:
- GGU students currently enrolled or who were enrolled the previous term.
- Full-time faculty.
- Part-time faculty during the term in which they are teaching and the terms immediately preceding and following that term.
- University trustees.
- GGU staff.
- GGU alumni.
